NOTICE OF PUBLIC
COMMENT PERIOD

Notice is hereby given that
a 30-day public com-
ment period is available
for the new Columbus
Area Metropolitan Plann-
ing Organization
(CAMPO) 2050 Metro-
politan Transportation
Plan (MTP). The pro-
posed plan includes an
analysis of the current
transportation network
and future transportation
projects throughout the
City of Columbus and
Bartholomew County in-
cluding focuses on
streets, safety, transit,
bicycle and pedestrian
system, bridges, and
freight.
As a pre-requisite for Co-
lumbus and Bartholo-
mew County to receive
federal funds to assist
with transportation con-
struction projects,
CAMPO must maintain a
current MTP, also known
as a long-range trans-
portation plan. This plan
must be updated every 5
years and have a mini-
mum of 20-year outlook.
The last plan was devel-
oped in 2021. Over the
past year, the Planning
Department, as the staff
for CAMPO, has been
working on the 2050
MTP with the assistance
of Kimley-Horn. This up-
date included
stakeholder meetings,
public engagement sur-
vey (available Nov 2025
through Jan 2026), and
open houses (Nov 2025
and April 2026) where
we gathered input on
community goals and
priorities related to trans-
portation. Thank you to
everyone who has al-
ready provided feedback
throughout this develop-
ment process.
The draft plan is posted on
the CAMPO website with
instructions on how to
provide comments. See
www.columbus.in.gov/planning/mtp/ or call the
Planning Department at
812-376-2550 for more
details. After all com-
ments are gathered, the
CAMPO Policy Board
will review and adopt the
final 2050 MTP at their
meeting on July 13,
2026 at 1:30 PM in the
Council Chambers at
Columbus City Hall.
